Michel Chapoutier: the « inventor of soils »
He did not know much but he had wine in his blood. Michel Chapoutier, who first traveled and learned English by breaking stones in California, began to build his wine empire when he was only 25 years old. De route naar ‘eigen’ wijnmakerschap bracht Janneke van de Leer via Chabrol eerst naar Domaine Breton in Bourgueil en daarna bij La Roche Bleu van Sebastien Cornille in Jasnières, waar de lancering van ‘La Belle en Bulle’, gemaakt van pineau d’aunis, dit jaar haar eerste stap op weg naar wijn maken is!

Gigondas to produce white wines
Until now, the winemakers of the southern Rhône cru have only been permitted to bottle reds and rosés under the appellation, but they will be able to produce white wines from the 2023 vintage following a decision by the French appellation authorities.

Some appellations only come in one colour, like Gigondas in the southern Rhône valley, which is always red (or rosé, but these are rarely seen). From 2023 however, Gigondas will also be able to be a white wine.
