Primeurs 2019 : Léoville Las Cases, Haut-Bailly, L’Église Clinet, Pavie Macquin…
Cette fin de semaine ce sont des marques importantes qui rejoignent la campagne. Les vins de Jean-Hubert Delon sont commercialisés : Château Léoville Las Cases à Saint-Julien est mis en marché à 161 € PRC (Prix de Revente Conseillé), une très belle affaire compte tenu de la qualité, Le Petit Lion est à 40 € et Clos du Marquis est à 37,80 € et l’un des beaux rapports qualité-prix de la campagne, Château Potensac est à 17,40 €.

Voici ce qui s’annonce probablement comme la dernière semaine des sorties officielles de la campagne de commercialisation des vins primeurs. En attendant la fin de semaine pour en savoir plus, ce matin, Château Lascombes à mis sur le marché ses deux vins : Château Lascombes à 53,20 € HT PRC (Prix de Revente Conseillé), une diminution de prix de 15,56 %, alors que Chevalier de Lascombes est à 22,40 €.

Whither Bordeaux 2019?
Why on earth would anyone spend €370 for a bottle of Cheval Blanc when you can buy Figeac for €120? Both seem likely to score around the 98-100 point range from most of the critics. Myself included, frankly, if either had sent me a sample. If Figeac is ‘perfect’, then what can possibly justify the also ‘perfect’ Cheval Blanc being more than three times the price?

2019 Bordeaux is known for great wines at all price points. In fact, that is a large part of what goes into my vintage rating. The ability for producers at every price level of wine is important. This report offers more focus on value-priced Bordeaux.

Récemment acquis par la famille Le Lous, château Cantenac Brown vient de s’agrandir de près de 10 hectares (9,5 hectares plus exactement) en rachetant le foncier de Christiane Renon, ancienne propriétaire des châteaux Charmant et La Galiane à Margaux.

Overall, 2019 is a relatively homogenous vintage – with no great qualitative difference between left and right bank nor really between appellations. Yet if there is a left-bank appellation that is more heterogeneous than the others in 2019 it is Margaux.

Pauillac in 2019 is fantastic and for such a large appellation it is remarkably homogenous in quality. That qualitative homogeneity does not in any sense mask the considerable range of stylistic diversity – if anything it accentuates it. But what is deeply impressive is that no Pauillac classed growth that I tasted en primeur lacked either appellation or terroir typicity.
