In ‘Whisky Passion’ nummer 1 van dit jaar kon u in een uitgebreide reportage lezen hoe Professor Dr. Benedikt Sas, general manager en master distiller van Sas Distilleries BVBA uit het Oost-Vlaamse Stekene (, zijn eerste Single Malt whisky in de herfst van 2019 uitbracht. Die kreeg de naam ‘Ignis Templi’, wat staat voor ‘vuur van de tempel’ ofte ‘cultplaats’, vermits achter in de tuin van Benedikt Sas de whiskyvaten rijpen boven een vroegere Keltische cult- en begraafplaats. Op het fleslabel van ‘Ignis Templi’ prijken dan ook de alchemistische tekens voor vuur en aarde, mercurius (verwijzend naar alcohol) en het Keltische kruis dat de vier windrichtingen en de vier elementen (met centraal de quintessens) voorstelt.

France raised its forecast for 2020 wine production on Tuesday, saying that increased output after rain during the grape harvest in the Charentes region had boosted volumes. Total wine output was now projected at 44.7 million hectolitres, compared with 44.1 million forecast last month, after the western French region, known for its cognac brandy, saw rainfall in late September just before the peak of the harvest, the farm ministry said in a report.

Na vele telefoontjes om de Sint-Sixtusabdij van Westvleteren überhaupt aan de lijn te krijgen en enkele gezellige uren in de auto, op weg naar het zuidwestelijke deel van België, is het dan zover. Daar, aan het einde van de weg, is de abdij, getuige een, het zit ons mee, niet al te lange rij auto’s. We sluiten aan en schuiven om de paar minuten een plaatsje op, langzaam en zeker richting de bruinwit gehabijte en goedlachse broeder, die behendig de volle kratten Westvleteren aanreikt aan de gelukkige nieuwe eigenaar.
