Wine-Searcher, the global price comparison search engine, has opened an office in London, bringing it "closer in touch" with the wine, beer and spirits industry.
Wine-Searcher is opening an office in south London. Wine-Searcher's head office is in New Zealand, but the company said that operating in the London time zone would allow it to conduct business more effectively in its key markets.

For understandable reasons the majority of drinks companies, particularly those producing household wine brands, like to keep their political feelings to themselves and instead rely on their respective trade association bodies to do any direct lobbying for them. Until now. The seemingly endless strategy of any government to continue to increase duty on alcohol is forcing drinks companies to take action...

In the January edition of Exporter News, we discussed potential labelling changes that would be needed for wine sent either to the United Kingdom (UK) and/or the remaining European Union (EU) members once the UK left the EU (which at that time was expected to happen on 29 March 2019). Since then, with the March deadline passed, a revised withdrawal date was set for 31 October 2019.

Brexit will happen in some manner over the next few months but there are many opportunities for the English wine industry to capitalise on this situation. English wine tourism is a clear opportunity which we can see as a growth segment in the tourism and hospitality sector. Food and wine tourism is the next wave expected by the travel consumer and also predicted by Visit Britain. So what will the impact be to the British economy post-Brexit?

Nu mag ik 90 liter wijn mee terug nemen maar na de Brexit niet meer.....
En ik las dat drank meenemen in de Eurotunnel nu al moeilijk is.

In the past, Eurostar hasn't limited the amount of alcohol it allows onboard its trains. New regulations, however, are causing an outcry because Eurostar is now restricting passengers to either one bottle of wine per person or 4 bottles/cans of beer. No large bottles of spirits are allowed at all. The ban affects trains traveling between Britain and Continental Europe.
